Private Trophy Lakes
Rocky Ridge Ranch near Wamic, OR offers three lakes to fish from. The lakes are fly fishing only and range in size from 20 to 40 acres. Fishing is limited to six anglers a day, which guarantees you’ll find relative solitude. The lakes are pleasing to the eye and offer nice views of Mount Hood; if you enjoy birds, this is a birder’s paradise. A non-motorized boat is very helpful, but isn’t necessary, although it certainly helps you get to good water with less effort. The fish are big, strong, and beautiful. The majority of the fish you will hook are between 18 and 20 inches, but there are some real pigs in these lakes, some pushing 30 inches. The ranch has a cozy cabin nestled on one of the lakes for an additional fee; here you can watch large trout lazily sip midges in the morning while drinking a cup of coffee, or of course you can simply go out and try to catch them! There are other private lakes out ther, but we feel that Rocky Ridge Ranch is the best bang for your buck, and offers the best combination of solitude, scenery, and success.
